Bengaluru: Following several reports of violent incidents including a murder, the City Police Department has decided to ban all Ganesha idol processions and DJ dances here.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has ordered the police not to give permission for any more Ganesha processions this year. Despite individuals requesting the police for permission to allow processions, the cops are firm on the ban, emphasizing public safety and the prevention of further violent incidents. "

The procession, DJ music system, and crackers not only inconvenience the public but also cause pollution," Dayananda said.

He asked the police to follow the rules, failing which disciplinary action will be taken against erring police officials.

"At present, there are around 200 applications pending seeking permission for Ganesha processions. They can take the idol for immersion without a procession," Dayananda said.
