Bengaluru: Two people, including a salesman, were arrested for allegedly cheating a jewellery shop owner and siphoning of jewellery worth Rs 75 lakh belonging to him.

The accused were identified as Lal Singh and Raj Pal, both natives of Rajasthan. The Halasuru Police said that a robbery complaint had been filed on October 2 by the jewellery owner and his employee Lal Singh.

It was alleged that the owner had asked Singh on September 28 to shift 1.262 kgs of ornaments including jewellery to a shop located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.

However upon reaching Nellore, Singh informed his employer that an unidentified gang assaulted him with a knife and robbed the valuables. Shocked at this, the owner asked him to return and along with him went to the police and filed a complaint.

The city police however suspected Singh's version of getting assaulted and robbed by a gang and intensified the investigation. Following interrogation, the truth was revealed that Singh had staged a drama to take the valuables for himself.

The police revealed that the accused had handed over the valuables to his friend who took it to his hometown, while he lied to the owner that he was attacked and robbed. The Halasuru police arrested both the accused from Rajasthan and recovered the valuables.
