Rains: BTP works round-the -clock as BBMP fails to do its job!

Bengaluru: Despite the heavy rains, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has failed to take adequate measures to prevent waterlogging and traffic congestion.

The city has experienced persistent rain for four days, and on Wednesday, several areas in the city witnessed heavy raisin accompanied by thunderstorms.

Some of the areas in the city that reported waterlogging and traffic congestion yesterday were Outer Ring Road (ORR), Bannerghatta, Hosur Road, Hebbal, Bellandur, Marathahalli Silk Board Junction, Jayanagar, Electronic City, Sarjapura Road, Malleshwaram, Majastic, Chamarajapet, Yashvantput, Kormangala, and several other areas.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has been working around the clock to manage the traffic and help commuters reach their destinations safely. BTP personnel have been deployed to key intersections and traffic junctions to direct traffic and prevent jams.

They have also been helping stranded motorists and pedestrians. The BTP has also been using social media to inform commuters about the latest traffic conditions and advise them on alternative routes.

The BBMP’s failure is evident from the fact that several major roads and lowlying areas have been flooded, causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians alike, and this is not the first time.

The BBMP has also failed to clear the stormwater drains, which has contributed to the waterlogging. Several citizens also posted videos and photographs of areas that were affected by the rains which led to waterlogging and traffic congestion.

Videos and photographs of BTP in field assigning and helping people were also circulating on social media. The BTP has advised commuters to avoid these areas if possible and to take alternative routes. Commuters are also advised to check the latest traffic conditions before leaving their homes.
