Offices in B'luru request BMRCL for smart cards

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metro Rail Cor poration Limited (BMRCL) is reportedly in talks with the companies in Whitefield and Outer Ring Road for a bulk purchase of metro smart cards for its employees.

Meanwhile, the BMRCL chief public relations officer, BL Yeshawanth Chavan, said "A company in Whitefield has already purchased 500 smart cards for its employees."

He added that currently, commuters are using contactless smart cards and National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) to travel by Metro.

This collaboration encourages Techies to use public transport, as they contribute to using private vehicles which adds to traffic congestion and would not only benefit the employees but also would help city authorities in reducing the traffic overcrowding in the city.

The Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) president Manas Das said, “We are persuading our member companies to encourage employees to use public transport. We request the companies, if possible, give free passes to the employees or subsidize them in some way.”

"It would be good if our company not only provides this facility but subsidizes our smart metro cards too," said an employee at a private firm in Whitefield.
