Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rubbished the allegations of the Opposition JD(S) and BJP that the guarantees had not been implemented properly, calling the charges politically motivated.

He made the remarks at the felicitation organized by Sri Revanasiddeswara Siddasimhasana Sri Kaginele Mahasansthan, Kanaka Gurupeetha Mutt in Mysuru on Monday.

“The guarantee schemes are successfully implemented due to the blessings of the people. Other political parties make politically motivated allegations. The opposition parties are only making allegations, which are not true,” Siddaramaiah said.

He added the guarantees made life easier for the poor by boosting income. He was most likely referring to the comments made by JD(S) MLA from Chamundeshwari GT Deve Gowda that guarantees were not implemented correctly, citing unavailability of rice for the Anna Bhagya scheme due to FCI not providing the rice.

Others like BJP bigwig BS Yediyurappa claimed that the state was going bankrupt because of the expensive guarantees. Siddaramaiah also recalled that Congress leaders such as Ahmed Patel had convinced him to join the party back in 2005.

“It has been 50 years since I entered politics. After I was expelled from JD(S) in 2005,Congress leaders including Ahmed Patel had asked me to join the party. With the blessings of the people, I got an opportunity to become the CM for the second time,'' he said.
