Bengaluru: Activists and members of several organisations including Bahutva Karnataka have been booked for staging a "silent solidarity event" in support of Palestine on MG Road allegedly without prior permission.
An FIR was also registered against 10 activists, the police said on Tuesday. During a press conference on Tuesday, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that a case has been registered for obstructing footpaths, creating public nuisance and not obtaining permission to stage the protest.
The demonstrators had gathered to demand that India condemns Israel’s attack on Palestine. The Cubbon Park police on Monday had detained 25 people for protesting without required permission and later released them after booking cases against them.
Bahutva Karnataka, meanwhile, condemned police action against proPalestine social media posts and pro-Palestine protests.
