State to boost power production: DKS

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister on Thursday reiterated the State government’s allegation that the previous regime under the BJP hadn’t boosted power production, adding that they would fix the shortcoming.

There has been a political row over power cuts with the Opposition BJP and JD(S) blaming the ruling Congress for allegedly not upholding the interests of the farmer by failing to provide uninterrupted electricity to pump sets.

Meanwhile, Congress has blamed scarce rainfall and drought-like conditions for the dearth of water in dams and the ensuing power shortages.

CM Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have also blamed the saffron party for allegedly leaving power production in the state in dire straits.

“The previous government didn’t boost power production abilities. Currently, we are formulating a plan to increase power production abilities,” Shivakumar told mediapersons.

Defending the State government, he said that they were presently acquiring electricity at Rs 6 to Rs 7 per unit and selling it at cheaper prices to farmers.
