Bengaluru: Valuables including gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 25 lakhs were stolen from a jewellery store in Kammasandra by suspects who cut the rolling shutter and metal sliding door of the outlet.

The incident took place after the owner, Sunil, locked the shop named Mathaji Jewellers and Bankers on Wednesday night and returned to his house.

It is worth noting that the shop is only a few meters away from the Hebbagodi Police Station. However, the incident came to light on Thursday morning. It was found that the miscreants had used a gas cutter to gain entry into the shop.

Following a complaint by the owner, the police inspected the store. Additional Superintendent of Police Parashuram and other senior officials, along with the dog squad and fingerprint experts, visited the spot.

The police said that the thieves have made away with the DVR of the CCTV cameras installed at the shop along with the valuables to avoid being caught. Efforts are on to nab them, police added.
