Shivakumar plays down demands to make him CM
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday dodged a question on whether he would be willing to take on the burden of the CM’s office, choosing to state that the party will take a call. He made the comments during his visit to Belagavi.
He was responding to a media query about the Kadasiddeshwar mutt seer asking people of north Karnataka to pray that Shivakumar becomes CM. On the same day, party colleague AB Patil and Congress MLA from Hungund Vijayanand Kashappanavar had expressed the same wish that the Deputy CM be promoted to the CM’s post.
“The Congress party has got power for the next five years. The party will take a decision on what it wants to do. I don’t think too much on the matter,” Shivakumar said, adding that he respected people who wished him to become CM.
“The priority is to provide good administration to the state,” he added.
