Maha sets up office to provide health insurance to K’taka border villages!
Belagavi, NT Bureau: The row over the Maharashtra State government extending their health insurance scheme to 865 villages in Karnataka has cropped up again with the setting up of an office in Chandgad town in Kolhapur district for the purpose.
When questioned about the move, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who is on a tour of Belagavi district, said that the move reflected insecurity on part of the Maharashtra State government.
“This is because we built the Suvarna Soudha (on the outskirts of Belagavi city) and because the city is as good as the second capital of the state. Our government is committed to the protection of the interests of the region. We will ensure that no issues such as these crop up. I will discuss this further,” Shivakumar said.
Back in April, Maharashtra CM Shinde had gone ahead and extended the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana to the villages in Belagavi, Karwar, Kalaburagi and Bidar districts.
Congress, then in the Opposition had claimed that CM Basavaraj Bommai hadn’t responded adequately to the issue.
