Shivakumar blames Yediyurappa for CBI woes

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday blamed BJP bigwig BS Yediyurappa for giving the green light to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case against him when the latter was the head of government.

He added that no other authority had approved of the CBI probe, which could be handled by investigating agencies in the state.

He said that it was noteworthy that BJP MLAs with corruption charges hadn’t been at the receiving end of CBI cases. The Karnataka Congress chief said that despite the CBI claiming that 90 per cent of their investigation was complete, they hadn’t questioned him once.

The remarks come in the backdrop of the Karnataka High Court (HC) rejecting Shivakumar’s plea to quash CBI proceedings against him. “Yediyurappa had handed my case to the CBI for political purposes.

There are plenty of cases against BJP MLAs as well. No one else is being investigated the way I am,” Shivakumar told mediapersons.

“Even the advocate general made it clear that this case is not fit to be handed to the CBI. However, Yediyurappa directly gave permission to the CBI to investigate the case without even consulting with the Speaker. Although the CBI says they have completed 90 per cent of the investigation, not a single investigator has called on me nor have I seen the details,” he added.

The Deputy CM also has Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases against him.
