
Three men charged for hunting and eating peacock, India's national bird

Tumkur: The Forest Department has apprehended three individuals from Odisha, who are employed at a Maranayakanapalya brick factory, in Tumkur for their involvement in hunting and consuming peacock meat, the national bird of India.
As a result of their actions, vessels used in the meat preparation, along with remnants of the bird, were confiscated and forwarded for forensic examination.
Over the past few days, these three men had been actively hunting peacocks and consuming their meat.
Acting on specific intelligence, Forest officials conducted a raid, leading to the seizure of 1.5 kg of meat and other bird remains. In addition to the meat, the vessels used for meat preparation were also impounded and included in the items sent for forensic analysis.
The accused individuals have been charged under the Wildlife Conservation Act.
