Activists slam cops for denying nod for pro-Palestine protests
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Numerous activists have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Bengaluru police for refusing permission for multiple solidarity protests in support of Palestine.
"Bengaluru for Justice and Peace," a coalition of civil society groups, had their request to organize a demonstration against Israel's actions in Palestine at Freedom Park on Saturday denied, citing concerns about "law and order issues."
In response to this denial, the coalition has penned an open letter to CM Siddaramaiah, in which they demand their "right to protest and engage in peaceful assembly."
However, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda explained that it is the stance of the State police not to permit any protests related to the Israel-Palestine issue
