UGC Chairman: Over 2 cr students registered for ABC
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), M Jagadesh Kumar, discussed the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
He highlighted that more than two crore students nationwide have registered for ABC, underscoring UGC's alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Kumar emphasised that educational institutions should not only ensure student registration on the ABC platform but also upload all academic credentials, credits, and certificates.
In his X account, he posted, “Higher educational institutions must ensure that every student in their institute is registered on the Academic Bank of Credits platform and that their credits and transcripts are uploaded.”
What is the Academic Bank of Credits?
ABC, a provision of NEP 2020, allows undergraduate and postgraduate students to exit and re-enter their courses within a defined timeframe.
It also aims to enable all students to create an academic bank account with ABC, facilitating the transfer of credits for degree, diploma, or certificate purposes. Students can find the details of the ABC provision on the official UGC webpage.
