Falling flower prices after festivals lead to crop destruction by farmers in Kolar

Kolar, NT Bureau: As the series of festivals, including Dasara, concluded, flower prices sharply declined, compelling farmers to abandon their mature crops.

Distressed by plummeting prices, flower farmers in the district of Kolar are now removing ready-for-harvest crops, such as chrysanthemums, like Byre Gowda from Hulibele village in Bangarpet taluk.

The onset of the Shravana month marked a consistent price decline, leaving farmers, who had invested a significant amount of money, with no choice but to discard the flowers cultivated owing to the unfavourable market rates.
