Smuggling unfolds at KIA: Gold worth Rs 33 lakh seized

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: More than 500 grams of gold rods valued over Rs 33.25 lakhs were seized by Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here on Friday.

Customs officers rummaged flight TG325, a Thai Airways flight which had arrived from Bangkok.

"The hollow cylindrical rods made of gold weighing 544.31 grams worth Rs 33,25,734 have been detected in a passenger baggage", the Bengaluru Customs said in a statement on social media platform 'X'.

Customs officials intercepted the smuggler for trafficking, evasion and a further probe is on to find out if he belongs to any smuggling gang.
