
Wanted criminal shot by police during escape attempt in Hosur

Anekal/Hosur: One of the most wanted criminals, Sheik Namdar Hussain (34), facing charges in multiple states including Kar nataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, was confronted by the Hosur police in the border area of Anekal taluk early on a Saturday.
When he attempted to attack the police team with a knife and escape, the police had no choice but to fire at him.
Both the injured criminal and the police officers involved are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. Hussain, who had a criminal record with eight cases in Karnataka and six in Tamil Nadu, had become a prime suspect in various house theft complaints in Hosur.
The Krishnagiri SP Suraj Kumar Thakur had alerted senior officers, leading to Hosur Deputy SP Prashanth Babu forming a team. Based on CCTV footage, they traced Hussain to Guntkal district in Andhra Pradesh, arrested him, and brought him back to Hosur.
During a spot inspection in Tirupati Majestic Layout on Bagalur Road on Saturday morning, Hussain attacked the police with a knife in an attempt to escape. In self-defence, the police shot him in the leg.
The injured police inspector Vinod Kumar, head constables Velarasu and Ramaswamy, along with Hussain, were admitted to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
