Bengaluru: Bengaluru city and its surrounding areas, parts of the larger Old Mysuru region and other swathes of the state received rainfall on Monday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) disclosed that 4 mm of rain lashed Bengaluru city on Monday.

The showers threw traffic out of gear, forcing vehicles to slow down. Busy areas in the city like Race Course Road saw standstill vehicular traffic as a result.

The parts of the state that received rainfall were coastal Karnataka and the Malnad region. The weather department revealed that Kumta town in Uttara Kannada district, Koppa town in Chikkamagaluru district, Napoklu village of Madikeri taluk of Kodagu district received 5 cms of rain each, the highest in the state.

IMD believes that these constitute “post-monsoon showers” that are regarded as a normal occurrence.
