Probe into unauthorised street vendors in Jayanagar

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Jayanagar's business area and surrounding areas are currently under investigation by the Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Tushar Giri Nath, who is addressing the issue of unauthorised street vendors obstructing pedestrian walkways.

These unauthorised encroachments have caused inconvenience to the public, as traders in Jayanagar's inner commercial district have been occupying pedestrian pathways without official permits.

The issue primarily revolves around street vendors occupying pedestrian walkways without the necessary permits, causing disturbances and inconveniences to the general public.

To tackle this issue, the Chief Commissioner has issued directives to identify those involved in unauthorised street vending and take the necessary steps to regulate their activities.

Marshal teams have been recommended to ensure that street vendors do not operate without the required permits in both the inner and outer areas of Jayanagar's commercial district.

The investigation includes a thorough inspection of the areas surrounding Jayanagar's central market, with an emphasis on addressing the lack of proper lighting systems.

In conjunction with this investigation, discussions are being held with BDA officials to coordinate site inspections and collaborate with the BBMP officials to report and address these issues efficiently.
