Barbaric! 6 held for torturing fishermen

Mangaluru: Mangaluru police have arrested six men in connection with a case where a fisherman was hung upside down from a crane in Bunder area of the district.
The arrested have been identified as Konduru Polayya (23), Avula Raj Kumar (26), Katangari Manohar (21), Vutukori Jalayya (30), Karpingari Ravi (27) and Pralaya Kaveri Govindayya (47).
According to police sources, the victim, Vaila Sheenu, a member of the fishermen community from Andhra Pradesh allegedly stole a mobile phone and when the incident came to light, the six accused gathered and questioned him. After they confirmed that the mobile was stolen by Sheenu, they tied him up and hung him upside down from a crane. He was also beaten up in a barbaric manner.
A video of the incident has been circulating in social media in this regard with people comparing it to the Taliban’s style. After the cops were alerted, a case was filed at Mangaluru police station and the six men were arrested and produced before a court.
