Mysuru: In an incident near Mahadeva Nagara village in Nanjangud, close to Bandipur National Park in Mysuru District, a farmer named Veerabhadra Bovi fell victim to a tiger attack while grazing his cattle on Tuesday morning.
The farmer attempted to protect his livestock from the animal, resulting in severe injuries to himself and the loss of several cattle. Following the harrowing attack, Veerabhadra was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, and the hospital received a visit from Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayana.
The incident sparked concern among the residents of Mahadeva Nagara village, who captured footage of a tiger lurking near their settlement. In response, villagers voiced their demand for a lasting solution to address the persistent menace posed by wild animals in the area.
Their frustration escalated to the point where they physically assaulted Mahantesh, a forest department official who had arrived to assess the situation following the tiger attack.
This incident is similar to a tragedy from a year ago when Mahadeva Gowda, a farmer from Hadanur in Mysore District, lost his life due to a tiger attack.
