Another student suicide

Hassan: In yet another incident, a 19-year-old engineering student died after she jumped from the fifth floor of her college building in Hassan on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Manya, a first year student pursuing Electronics and Communications at Rajiv Institute of Technology in Hassan district.

It was revealed that Manya, who hailed from Honnashettyhalli village of Dandiganahalli hobli in Channarayapatna taluk, was writing her first year internal examination on Thursday.

It is alleged that she was caught cheating during the examination by the invigilator. She was taken to the Principal and was later made to write an apology letter by the lecturer.

After coming out of the Principal's cabin, the depressed student allegedly made her way to the fifth floor of a building in the campus and jumped to her death. The jurisdictional Police visited the place.
