Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Thursday declared that the State government would take strict action against illegal mining.
“If any category of mining has a legal license, there will be full cooperation from all concerned departments,” Siddaramaiah said.
He made the comments in response to mediapersons after inaugurating various development programmes at Government Pre university College campus. Reacting to the media’s query regarding mining, the CM said that a meeting was held with the Forest Department and appropriate directions were given not to disturb A, B, C or any category of mining.
“Alternative measures to mining in forest land were also discussed. We have fought against illegal mining in the past,” he said.
At the Pre University College campus in Hospet, high school and library buildings and various development programmes were inaugurated at a cost of Rs 36 crore.
“About 3,000 students benefit from these wellequipped buildings. This work has been undertaken by Kalyana Karnataka Development Board (KKDB),” Siddaramaiah said.
