Bengaluru: The occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava marked the commencement of the film "Cheetah" starring Prajwal Devraj.
Directed by choreographer Raj Kala Kumar, this movie is making its way to the silver screen under the Rajalakshmi Entertainment banner, with actor Prajwal Devraj playing the lead role.
The movie's muhurat ceremony took place at the H.E.M High School grounds on this significant day in Karnataka's cultural calendar on November 1.
Prajwal Devraj, in his role as the protagonist, carried the Kannada cultural flag, symbolizing the movie's mission.
Director Raj Kala Kumar, who has spent the last 23 years in the Kannada film industry as a dancer choreographer, expressed his excitement about directing his first film.
He stated, "This is my directorial debut, and I am thrilled to be working with Prajwal Devraj, who has been an excellent dancer and performer. The film is a story set in the market, where business, rivalry, and hustling occur at a breakneck pace. Our lead actor also reflects that same energy. Therefore, we have named our film 'Cheetah,' symbolizing speed. Renowned art director Shibu is constructing the market set where most of the film's shooting will take place. The shoot has already begun and we are excited to bring this unique story to the audience."
The film features a talented cast, including Shruti Hariharan, Gururaj Jaggessh, Shivraj K.A. Patil, Telugu actor Sunil, Govinde Gowda, and Abhay Punit. Prajwal Devraj said, "I have played the role of a hero in dance sequences choreographed by Raj Kala Kumar, and now, he is directing me as a hero in his debut film. The story revolves around a young man born and raised in the market. I am grateful to everyone who has worked hard on the movie, and we hope to bring a unique experience to the audience."
