Bengaluru: Despite numerous complaints and regular police patrols around the Bangalore University (BU) premises, it seems that the safety measures are not being strictly implemented as several liquor bottles, cigarette packets and other waste are still found dumped in the premises.

The officials of the BU's Jnanabharathi campus claim to have yet again found of broken glasses, bloodstains, and charred two-wheelers near the department's premises.

The distressed department officials lodged a formal complaint with the local authorities following the incident, sources said on Saturday. The unidentified culprits left a trail of destruction in their wake, specifically targeting the main entrance of the psychology department.

Glass windows and the main door lay shattered, with an alarming sense of bloodstains present and sight of a dumped burnt electric two-wheeler. Despite similar cases being recorded on the BU campus in the past, the authorities allege that incidents such as dumping liquor bottles and other waste along with stealing sandalwood trees continues.

M Srinivas, Head of the psychology department, expressed concern over the lack of surveillance in the campus vicinity, later emphasised the need for the installation of CCTV cameras, and urged the department to increase security personnel within the premises.

Consequently, the jurisdictional police have registered a case under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and have collected pertinent vehicle details as part of their investigations.
