Bengaluru: G Satyavati, IAS and the Managing Director of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) made an impromptu bus journey on Saturday to conduct a surprise inspection.

This was prompted by a series of complaints received by BMTC, specifically related to challenges faced by women passengers as part of the Shakti Scheme.

For her examination, the MD selected a bus operating along the Konankunte route. During her bus journey, Satyavati seized the opportunity to relay crucial information to the passengers.

She conveyed, "We have provided them with clear instructions to follow the correct procedures."

In addition, she expressed her appreciation for the dedicated endeavours of conductors and drivers who have been actively working to enhance the travel experience for women passengers.

These efforts are concentrated on five critical aspects, including distributing essential materials to female passengers on board, ensuring that conductors are attentive and cooperative in assisting women passengers, maintaining meticulous records within the vehicles, and upholding stringent cleanliness standards within the buses.

The MD's inspection and her commendation of the drivers and conductors offered a secure and comfortable mode of transportation for women passengers in alignment with the Shakti Scheme.
