Biker dies, pillion suffers injuries after BMTC bus hits them

Bengaluru: A biker died while the pillion rider suffered severe injuries in yet another accident involving Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus near Devanahalli on Sunday morning.
According to the sources, the incident took place near Venkatagiri Kote Cross on the city outskirts. The deceased was identified as Govinda Swamy, 40, a native of Tamil Nadu who had been residing in Bengaluru's KR Puram.
The accident took place when Govinda Swamy was riding along with his friend Panivelu around 8:30 am on his bike. A BMTC bus coming from behind allegedly touched their bike which caused Swamy to lose his balance.
Both the friends fell from the bike and suffered severe injuries. The police said that Swamy died while being rushed to a hospital while Panivelu is under treatment and his condition is said to be critical.
A case was registered at Vijayapura Police Station and an inspection was carried out at the accident spot.
