Palike issues 'mobile notice' to property owners to clear tax arrears

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: "Property tax is the primary and most important source of revenue for a city corporation. All property owners should pay their taxes promptly," was the message sent by the BBMP to owners who were delaying their property's tax settlements.

In a statement issued by the civic body, an increase in collection of taxes has been reported. The total collection has hit Rs 3,000 crore mark, from Rs. 2,890 in January last year.

However, this is only 64.5 percent of the tax collected and as per the target set in the budget, Rs. 1619 crore is yet to be collected.
