Suspend officials who forced KPSC candidates to take off jewellery: JD(S)

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: The JD(S) demanded the suspension of security personnel who had asked women candidates to take off their mangalsutras, bangles, toe rings and other metallic jewellery before attending a Karnataka Public Services Commission (KPSC) exam in a centre in Kalaburagi on Sunday.

The personnel who had issued the directions to the women candidates reportedly included cops and KPSC officials. Invigilators overseeing the exams washed their hands off the incident, claiming it wasn’t them who put forth the conditions.

The unusual conditions were put forth allegedly because of some exam attendees hiding Bluetooth devices in lockets and the like so as to enable communication of answers to the questions in the paper.

“The KPSC and the State government should immediately apologise to the aggrieved women,” the official JD(S) handle on X posted.
