Chitradurga: Based on a complaint, the Parashurampura Police of Chitradurga district have filed an FIR against a minor boy and his father of different faith under the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act.
Since both the victim and the boy named in the FIR are minors, the police are investigating the case from all angles.
The victim is a minor boy studying in the PreUniversity college of Challakere taluk of Chitradurga district and the suspect is his friend and classmate who belongs to a different faith.
The victim’s father approached Parashurampura police and filed a complaint alleging ‘brainwashing and converting’ his son to a different faith.
The complainant said that he got suspicious about his son’s behaviour when he stopped performing puja and worshipping the Hindu deities. When the victim’s father checked the phone and bag of his son, he found photographs of him performing namaz and skull caps in his bag.
The victim’s father accused his son’s friend and the latter’s father who are from the same village of converting his son to a different faith.
The complainant alleged that he had found several audio recordings between the two in which the accused had enquired about the valuation of the victim’s properties. Chitradurga SP Dharmendra Kumar Meena said that an FIR has been registered and the probe is underway.
