Fresh rain forecast for Karnataka
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Just as the heavy rains under the influence of North East Monsoon (NEM) began to fade away, Karnataka might have to brace for a fresh wet spell due to a weather system in the Bay of Bengal.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) disclosed that a Low Pressure Area (LPA) may develop over the southeastern part of Bay of Bengal and bring rain to the state on Tuesday.
The weather department said that the LPA may intensify into a depression by Thursday.
“A Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal around 14th November. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal around 16th November,” an IMD statement said.
“A fresh spell of rainfall is likely to commence over south peninsular India from 14th November," IMD added. These rains are regarded as post-monsoon showers by the IMD. Onset of winter proper is expected in December.
