Bengaluru: A former employee of an multinational company (MNC) in the city was summoned for questioning after she was alleged to have made a hoax bomb call to the staff of the organisation, police said on Wednesday.
According to sources, a bus driver of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Bengaluru on Tuesday received an anonymous call from a person alleging that a bomb has been planted in the company's B block.
The company officials immediately alerted the Parappana Agrahara Police who brought the bomb squad and a dog squad along with them to comb through the entire premises to locate and retrieve the bombs.
However, the cops concluded shortly that there were no explosives and suspected the call to be a hoax.
Meanwhile, investigating the matter, the city police retrieved the contact number from which the call was made and traced it to a location in Belagavi.
It was later revealed that the number belonged to a woman identified as B Shruti Shetty, a techie who had worked in TCS. The police said the woman had left the company to pursue higher studies.
However, after her exams, the officials of the company allegedly refused to re-appoint her due to which she felt dejected. The police have issued a notice to her to appear for an inquiry in Bengaluru.
