Woman dies after being run over by speeding bus

Bengaluru: A woman died on the spot while her husband escaped with minor injuries in a freak accident that took place in Hulimavu Traffic Police Station limits here on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Selvi, 49, a native of Shanubhoganahalli in Bengaluru North. According to the police, the incident took place around 7:45 am on Thursday when Selvi was riding pillion along with her husband, Jayashankar, who was driving a moped near Meenakshi Mall on the Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru.

An overspeeding private bus knocked the moped causing the couple to fall down after which the bus allegedly ran over the woman. The jurisdictional traffic police reached the spot and have registered a case following inspection.
