Goods train derails, no major casualties reported

Vijayanagara, NT Bureau: As many as 12 wagons of a good train derailed between Vyasanakeri Railway Station in Hosapete taluk and Vyasa Colony station of Vijayanagara district on Thursday but no major casualties were reported.

South Western Railway (SWR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Aneesh Hegde said that railway officials were looking into the mishap.

“On the date, 16th November 2023, at 4:08 pm, 10 wagons from loco and 2 wagons in the center of a goods train derailed between Vyasanakeri and Vyasa Colony Railway Stations of Hubballi Division,” he said.

As many as six trains had been canceled and scores of others diverted as a consequence of the accident.
