Bengaluru: Three staff members at the Government Higher Primary School in Chinamagera, Afzalpur taluk, have been suspended following a grave incident involving a Class 2 student.

The student accidentally fell into a vessel of hot sambar during the midday meals service, sustaining severe injuries.

The Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) and the Executive Officer of the Afzalpur Taluk Panchayat took swift action, issuing orders on Friday for the immediate suspension of the school's headmistress, Lalabi Nadaf, and an assistant teacher, Raju Chauhan.

The suspension was deemed necessary due to their failure to ensure adequate supervision and safety measures during the lunchtime service. Additionally, the head cook of the school, Kasturibai M Talakeri, has been summarily dismissed from her duties.

The DDPI order further stipulates that the suspended employees will be entitled to subsistence allowance during their suspension period, as per rule 98(a) of the Karnataka Civil Service Rules.

Furthermore, they are strictly prohibited from leaving their posts without prior approval from the competent authority
