Girl who fell into sambar vessel dies

Bengaluru: An eight-year-old girl, who had fallen into a vessel of hot sambarat Chinamagera of Afzalpur taluk of Kalaburagi district, succumbed to injuries at the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru early on Sunday morning.

The deceased girl, Mahanthamma, studying in the Class 2 of the government school at Chinamagera, had been grievously injured on Thursday and was being treated at the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Kalaburagi, before she was shifted to the Victoria Hospital for further treatment.

As she failed to respond to the treatment, she passed away at around 3.30 am on Sunday. The Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) and the Afzalpur Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer have suspended the head teacher and an assistant teacher and dismissed the head cook.
