Sriramulu calls on Siddu, Shivakumar
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Former minister and BJP bigwig B Sriramulu sent the rumour mill into overdrive by visiting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar at their respective residences on Monday.
However, the saffron party leader insisted that the visit was of a personal nature and not a political one, adding that he had invited the Congress heavyweights to his daughter’s wedding due next month.
“My daughter’s wedding will be held at the Palace Grounds on December 7. Therefore I had sought appointments of the chief minister and the deputy chief minister. So I have come down here and given them invitation cards. This is a personal matter since it’s my daughter’s wedding. There were no political discussions,” Sriramulu said.
The former minister also tried to downplay any dissatisfaction within the BJP over the naming of R Ashoka as the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Assembly.
He acknowledged that BJP MLA from Vijayapura Basangouda Patil Yatnal was indeed a senior leader but since the high command had chosen Ashoka, all workers should accept it to further the interests of the party.
