Bengaluru: An FIR has been registered against a former BJP corporator for allegedly assaulting auto-rickshaw drivers over posters critical of BJP MP Tejasvi Surya in the city.
A few days back, several auto drivers in Bengaluru had displayed posters on their vehicles, opposing Surya's support for carpooling.
The posters label the BJP MP's backing of carpooling as disgraceful. Posters such as these were also pasted on the back of several autorickshaws.
Enraged over this, supporters of former BJP corporator Sangathi Venkatesh allegedly attacked the auto drivers, demanding the removal of the posters.
Also, Venkatesh allegedly warned all auto drivers in the area against operating their vehicles and even threatened them with dire consequences, including death, if they did not remove the posters.
The FIR has been filed against Venkatesh and his supporters at the Hanumantha Nagar Police Station. Further investigation is underway
