Elderly woman attacked, robbed of gold chain in Anekal

Bengaluru: An elderly female occultist's throat was slit and her gold chain robbed in Anekal on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

Akkayyamma, who resides on Laxmi Theatre Road in Anekal, has been shifted to a private hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical. The shocking incident has stoked fear among the residents of the area.

It is learnt that the woman and her husband Narayanachari are local tantriks who provide solutions through the recital of mantras for leg and hand fractures, and muscle pulls.

Around 8:30 am on Monday, the accused entered her house under the pretext of seeking a solution and attacked her before escaping with her gold chain, the police explained.

So far the investigation has revealed that the accused had initially visited the house of the victim on Saturday seeking a remedy for a sprain on his leg.

He had paid Rs 50 to the victim after she recited some mantras to relieve the pain, the jurisdictional police told News Trail. However, the accused returned on Monday and attacked the woman.

Akkayyamma's husband Narayanachari suffered minor injuries in an attempt to stop him.

The police are scanning the CCTV cameras and are recording statements of several people who have seen the accused. Efforts are on to trace and nab the accused.
