Bengaluru: Less than 24 hours after announcing controversial former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh's name in the guest list of Bengaluru's 'Namma Kambala' event, the Kambala Committee dropped him from the list on Tuesday following outrage and the posing of questions on social media.

The Kambala event, which is poised to happen on Saturday, November 25, will be the first one to take place in Bengaluru, at Palace Grounds. Speaking to News Trail, Puttur MLA and convenor of the Kambala Committee Ashok Kumar Rai explained the reason behind the suddden change.

“We had invited Singh to felicitate Karnataka wrestlers,” he explained and added that after the backlash because of the political row Singh was involved in the past over the wrestlers' issue, it was decided to delete his name.

The ex-WFI president is currently facing charges of sexual harassment, based on 10 complaints from female wrestlers, leading to two FIRs.
