Ludhiana bomber was ex-policemen

Ludhiana: The body of the man who was killed in the Ludhiana district courts complex explosion on Thursday has been identified and is believed to be that of the bomber.

According to reports, the deceased, Gagandeep Singh, is a former cop who was dismissed from police. His sacking also led to a rift between him and his wife.

Gagandeep, a head constable, was dismissed from service in 2019 and spent two years in jail following his arrest in a drug-trafficking case. He was released in September. His SIM card and a wireless dongle helped identify him and the family too has confirmed that the body was of Gagandeep.

The NIA and Punjab police suspect that Gagandeep was taking information online about assembling and activating the bomb.
