Bengaluru: A person lost Rs 3 lakh in cash which he had kept in the glove box of his scooter parked right in front of his office in Amruthahalli Police Station limits.
Gurumurthy, a Group D employee of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) at Byatarayanapura said the incident took place 10 days ago.
"I withdrew Rs 3 lakh cash from the Bank of Baroda at Amruthahalli for the wedding of my nephew which was scheduled on November 13. When I came out of the bank, I noticed that one of scooter’s tyre was punctured," he said.
Gurumurthy allegedly kept the money in the glove compartment and got the puncture fixed at a shop nearby. He then went to his office. Half an hour later, when he came out of the office, he found the cash missing from his scooter.
Immediately, Gurumurthy checked CCTV footage, which showed an unidentified man entering the office compound and loitering for a while. He then broke open the seat lock of the scooter and quickly took away the money kept in the glove box.
He was seen escaping with another man who was waiting for him at the gate on a motorcycle. A complaint has been filed and the jurisdictional police are in search of the thief.
