Gaza City/Tel Aviv: At least 100 Palestinians were killed in attacks overnight and on Wednesday morning around hospitals and refugee camps in Gaza, media reported on Wednesday a day before the agreed truce will take effect.
More than 50 people of same family were ‘wiped out’ in Jabalia, Al Jazeera cited Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki as saying on Wednesday. The diplomat said the Israeli attack took place on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
“Only this morning, from the Qadoura family in Jabalia, 52 people have been wiped out completely, killed,” al-Maliki said on the sidelines of a briefing by Arab and Muslim foreign ministers in the UK capital, London. “I have the list of the names, 52 of them, they were wiped out completely from grandfather to grandchildren.”
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said that casualties were reported in an attack in Khan Younis. It said that in initial figures at least six people were killed and dozens were wounded in the Israeli strike.
Israel and Hamas agreed last night on a deal for a four-day truce in Gaza and the release of 50 captives held in the enclave. The Zionist regime will release triple that number of Palestinian civilians.
Israel & Hamas agree to Qatar-brokered 4-day truce
Israel and Hamas have agreed to a temporary pause in the war that will enable the release of about 50 people who have been held captive in Gaza since the Hamas armed group stormed southern Israel on October 7, in exchange for Palestinians held in Israeli jails.
The Israeli cabinet backed the agreement after talks on a Qatar-mediated deal that continued into the early hours of Wednesday morning, with Israeli media reporting heated exchanges between ministers of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
The prime minister’s office said the deal would require Hamas to release at least 50 women and children during a four-day truce.
Hamas, which controls Gaza, also released a statement, confirming that 50 women and children held in the territory would be freed in exchange for Israel releasing 150 Palestinian women and children from Israeli jails.
Qatar confirmed the “success” of mediation efforts, which also involved Egypt and the US.
