5 injured in a gas cylinder explosion

Bengaluru: Five members of a family including a 9-year-old boy suffered serious burn injuries after an LPG gas cylinder accidentally exploded at their house in Anekal on Wednesday morning.

Acording to sources, the gas might have leaked from the cylinder last night and spread in the house which the family failed to notice.

The explosion took place when one of the family members turned on the light in the house around 5:30 am. The injured were identified as Jamal, 32; Nazia, 22; Irfan, 21; Gulab, 18; and Shahazad, 9; all hailing from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

It was learnt that the family was staying at the house for rent which was owned by a person named Manikanta. Due to the impact of the explosion, windows and roof of the house along with a car parked in front of the building got damaged.

Fire department personnel and the Konanakunte Police visited the house to investigate the cause of the explosion. A case has been registered regarding the incident.
