Protest by PU college principals

Mysuru, NT Bureau: Members of organisations of PU principals, lecturers and nonteaching staff held a protest near the deputy Commissioner's office in Mysuru on Thursday urging the state government to withdraw its circular to bring the department of of PU education under the supervision of Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive officer in all districts.

They shouted slogans against the state primary education department for issuing this order without holding any meeting with them. The new order is also detrimental to the interests of students, they claimed.

The government has introduced plus-two PU level education as per the recommendations of the Mallikarjunappa and Kothari Commissions in 1971 to ensure quality education to students.

Former CM Bangarappa had carved out the PU department to evaluate students and conduct exams But in its recent circular, the education minister has brought the PU department under local bodies control.
