Tiger kills woman in Nanjangud

Mysuru: A 50 -year- old woman was killed in a tiger attack at Balluruhundi in Nanjangud taluk on Friday. Rathnamma, wife of Venkataiah of the village, is the deceased.
The incident took place in broad daylight when the woman was grazing cattle near Mahadev Nagar nursery located very close to Ballurhundi. The woman is the fourth victim of a tiger attack in Mysuru district in the last one month.
The tiger which dragged the woman a few meters away to the forest, left the body after seeing the arrival of other cattle grazers when the woman cried for help.
A large number of villagers who were gathered on the spot vent their ire on forest department officials for not initiating measures to end the menace as they fear to venture out of their homes to agriculture fields.
Upon receiving the information, Bandipur tiger reserve project director Dr P Rameshkumar, ACF Paramesh and other staff visited the spot. The officer promised to release the compensation as per the procedure.
In another incident, a five year old tiger was killed in a fight with another tiger at Maddur range in Bandipur tiger reserve.
Villagers of Byathahalli which is located a few kilometers away from Mysuru have spotted three tigers near their village and alerted the forest department officials to take up the rescue operation in Kadakola-Byathahalli surrounding villages.
