Girl dies after drinking poison to prove she is faithful to lover

Chikkaballapur, NT Bureau: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 17-year-old girl died in a village in Gowribidanur taluk after her boyfriend asked her to prove her fidelity by drinking poison.

As the incident involved the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police declined to share more details. According to the sources, the girl was in love with a 21-year-old youth.

As he suspected infidelity from her, on Monday evening, he asked her to drink poison to prove that she is faithful to him.

He said that she would survive if she was chaste! The girl died after drinking the poison and to escape the police, the youth too staged a drama of falling sick.

However, he was later arrested by the police. This incident has sent shock waves across the district as it is the first of such kind of incident.
