Bengaluru: Amid rising concer ns of cyber frauds, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank officer has been appointed to head the Cybercrime wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) who will now tackle the growing number of cybercrime cases in the city.

The Karnataka government has transferred Satyanarayan Singh SB, who was serving as Deputy Superintendent (DySP) for the State Intelligence, and has posted him at Cyber Crime Police Station, CCB, Bengaluru.

Apart from Singh, the government has ordered the transfer of six other DySPs including Girish SB, Jogina Gopala Doddakariappa, Dharmendra HN, Sanna Thammappaiah Wodeyar, Puttaswamy Gowda TR and Pawan N. DySP (Civil) Srinivas H, who was waiting for the posting has been posted at State Intelligence department.

Similarly 14 Police Inspectors were also transferred across the state following an order issued on Monday. Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar had recently assured to strengthen the police department in the state.

He said that 1,547 Police SubInspectors and 3,000 Police Constables will be recruited and inducted into the department within a few months.

After the approval of the High Court, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is set to conduct the re-examination for the recruitment of 545 Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posts on December 23.

The Home Minister also said that very soon the 402 vacant posts for the PSI (Civil) in Karnataka State Police will also be filled.

"The KSP needs fifteen thousand more police constables. We will fill these posts in a phased manner as it would be difficult to recruit so many candidates at the same time and train them," he had said.

Being short-staffed has been a longstanding grouse of the city’s law enforcement agencies, more so since Bengaluru’s boundaries as well as population have grown exponentially.
