Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police in the city cracked a robbery case and recovered stolen valuables including three kilograms of gold ornaments from the accused here.
The robbery had taken place at the residence of popular Sandalwood film producer Rockline Venkatesh’s brother, Bhramaresh.
As Bhramaresh and his family during September, had embarked on a blissful European sojourn, a gang of seven people executed their meticulously planned heist, leaving the house stripped of jewellery and other valuables.
The accused were identified as Upendra, Nachendra, Kolanu, Swasthik, Pooja, Parvathi and Sadala, all natives of Nepal.
Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that the gang had been scheming for three months, meticulously observing the house from a discreet vantage point near a construction site.
Patiently biding their time, they seized the opportunity when Bhramaresh and his family set off for their overseas trip in October.
Upon their return on October 30, Bhramaresh and his family were met with the unsettling discovery of their burglarized home. Swift action ensued as Bhramaresh promptly reported the incident to the jurisdictional police.
The ensuing investigation led to the apprehension of a seven-member Nepali gang, bringing an end to the suspenseful saga.
Along with the arrests, the police recovered approximately three kilograms of the gold, stolen cash along with other stolen valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore, unraveling the intricacies of a premeditated plot that unfolded during the family’s absence.
One of the accused was employed as a security guard at Bhramaresh's house, the police said. While scanning the CCTV footage, the police found the security guard involved in the theft.
The Bengaluru police also claimed that several cases were detected against the accused persons at different police stations here. Investigation is underway.
