CBI nabs CBFC regional officer accused in a bribery case

Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested a regional officer from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in the city, along with two others in connection with an alleged bribery case amounting to Rs 12,000, from a film producer.
The individuals apprehended in this recent case are identified as regional officer Prashant Kumar, along with private individuals Prithvi Raj and Ravi.
The CBI initiated the case against Prashant based on accusations of soliciting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to the CBI, it was claimed that the accused later negotiated the bribe amount down to Rs 12,000 for issuing a Censor Certificate.
The CBI, in response, set up a trap and apprehended the accused while he was accepting the bribe from the complainant.
Subsequent to the arrest, a search was conducted at the regional officer's premises, resulting in the discovery of Rs 3 lakh in cash.
